SCC 2025
The South Coast Championships are coming to Plymouth!
The West of England Amateur Rowing Association are pleased to announce that the 2025 South Coast Rowing Championships will be held in Plymouth.
Full details below including the running order and Excel entry form.
Where can I find all the latest information?
The schedule and summary of the event is below, along with detailed bulletins for club captains and the Excel entry form
When is this happening?
The event will take place over two days in September:
- Junior Championship on Friday 5th September 2025, provisional start 14:30
- Senior Championship on Saturday 6th September 2025, provisional start time 15:10
Why is the Junior event on a separate day?
Tide and light issues require us to run this event separate from the Championships, however this also creates the opportunity for extra open events to make up a great couple of days racing for all!
How long is the course?
Different lengths for different events!
- Junior Championship and non-championship Open events are over a 1000m course. This maximizes the number of possible races within the tide and light contraints.
- Championship course is 1500m. This is the maximum straight course with reasonable access to the finish line for umpires.
Is there an alternative course if the weather is unsuitable?
It may be possible to switch to a coastal boat format if the weather becomes unsuitable for fine boats, however this would inevitably lead to many single and pairs events being cancelled.
Any other special arrangements we should be aware of?
ALL RACE CREWS are subject to a Regatta Official Start Warning.
We only have a narrow tidal window and any delays resulting from continued false starts will result in races towards the end of the regatta potentially not going ahead.
Video on the start line will potentially be used to backup umpire’s decisions for disqualification for deliberate and intentional distance advantage by rowing before the official start.
